Fall 2011 we will again be offering our popular Independent School Entrance Exam Preparation Classes, designed to acquaint students with the concepts and skills for analyzing and solving typical questions from all test sections on the ISEE.
As students gain proficiency and confidence with the concepts and strategies presented, they will be offered the opportunity to engage in more complex problem solving and practice these skills in timed test-taking situations. Each student will receive a complete ISEE course book and vocabulary cards, containing background ISEE information, strategies, skill lessons, and practice items for each of the test sections at all levels. The small class size and individualized instruction have proven very effective in preparing our students to perform confidently and successfully!
Verbal Reasoning: vocabulary, synonyms, best choice of similar answers, sentence completion, word function, logical conclusion, prefix/suffix/root
Reading Comprehension: main idea, details, inference, logic, interpretation, tone, author's purpose, summarization, drawing conclusions, vocabulary in context
The LEC is pleased to offer SAT Preparation Classes in alliance with Brown Reading Systems of Bellevue, WA. BRS has been providing SAT preparation to high school students all over the United States and Canada since 1978 and has a proven track record of increasing student scores, thus dramatically improving students' university choices. The average increase from pre-test to post-test, taken during the course, is approximately 300 points!
